SAT-202  unveils third generation data device  

The new SAT-202 is the third-generation, low data rate satellite terminal that can be used for tracking, rapid alerting and mobile asset management in security and other mission-critical applications.
The system is housed in the same low-profile casing as its predecessor, the SAT-201, and comes in three variants, providing flexibility in terminal usage.
It includes a new, integral 50-channel 3D GPS receiver, and has three inputs for sensor monitoring, plus one low-voltage digital output, suitable for driving relays and indicators.
Expanded data-logging:
Users can individually configure all of the inputs and outputs, while the newly expanded data-logging functions include GPS positions, transmissions and data for more than 6,500 entries.
The SAT-202 terminal will operate over Inmarsat's IsatM2M global network.

SAT-202 Terminal

The SAT-202 is a compact, single piece unit, which provides a low data rate service. It has an integral 50 channel 3D GPS receiver and provides three inputs for sensor monitoring and one low-voltage digital output suitable for driving relays and indicators, all of which are user configurable. The data-logging functions include GPS positions, transmissions and data for more than 6,500 entries. The SAT-202 provides accurate, reliable and low cost satellite communications for tracking, rapid alerting and mobile asset management in security and other mission-critical applications.

The SAT-202 offers direct interfaces to most application environments without the need for additional external circuitry, significantly reducing system integration costs.

Like all  products and solutions, the SAT-202 provides complete global coverage which has been recently enhanced by the inclusion of the Pacific Central (PAC-C) satellite which improves coverage in the Western part of North America and the Pacific region.

A115B01: SAT-202 Terminal

In addition to the standard model (B01) we offer for our Latin American customers  the technical identical  but cheaper version, the SAT-202 (B98) operating only inside all the Inmarsat AOR-W (West) satellite coverage.

A115B03: SAT-202-020. A bottom entry cable model with intrgral 20cm cable terminating on an 12-way IMC connector.

A115B04: SAT-202-020-MF.  A side entry cable model with an integral 20cm cable terminating on a 12-way IMC connector. This model also incorporates magnetic feet to allow for temporary deployments.

The SAT-202 is a complete single unit satellite terminal. Compact in size, the unit provides global coverage and information specific to customer requirements:

Attributes
The SAT-202 is the newest satellite terminal. Designed as a multi-purpose unit, the terminal includes modem and antenna with interface functionality. Power supply is normally provided by the asset, however power source/battery backup is possible via the GEM-100 expansion module.

The SAT-202 terminal has three fully configurable inputs and outputs for sensor monitoring, and one open drain output suitable for driving relays and indicators. The data-logging function includes GPS positions, transmissions and data for more than 6,500 entries which isaccessible locally via the serial port. All transmissions are logged and a record is kept of the time the message is created and, if applicable, when it was transmitted.

There are two cable entry variations for the SAT-202 depending on how the terminal is to be installed - either bottom or side entry. Direct interface is possible with most application environments without extra circuitry, providing the opportunity to minimise system integration costs and timescales.

The SAT-202 terminal is ideal for all environments and is favoured in remote regions where terrestrial communication cannot be relied upon.


Network & Process
Each asset is fitted with a SAT-202 terminal. When out in the field the unit will automatically select the most appropriate satellite depending on its GPS position. The message is then sent via secure systems before being
delivered to the designated recipient.

Like all terminals, the SAT-202 utilises Inmarsat's I2 and I3 satellites via the IsatM2M standard. This service delivers an affordable and reliable directto-desktop information service with fast message handling and high quality service functions such as messaging, navigation and internet based tracking

The SAT-202 is the ideal satellite terminal for applications requiring small data rate messages with GPS position details. It is perfect for many IMO (International Maritime Organisation) regulations such as Ship Security Alert Systems (SSAS) and Long Range Identification Tracking (LRIT) which are regulations all commercial maritime operators (operating vessels over 500 gross tonnes) have to comply with.

The leisure marine sector follows similar trends to the land-based market in that navigation, messaging and locationbased services are becoming the norm. The SAT-202 terminal has NMEA output of GPS data to other on board systems,
eliminating the need for additional GPS systems. This feature opens the applications up to other functions such as messaging, navigation and internet based-tracking for sailboat and yacht racing, as well as exception based reporting of onboard sensors that detect theft, unauthorised entry and other customer determined features.

The SAT-201K Personnel Tracker is a compact, single unit, low data rate satellite terminal with an integral GPS receiver, designed to operate over the Inmarsat satellites using the IsatM2M protocol, thus providing low cost satellite communications. The SAT-201K Personnel Tracker is ideal for tracking individuals (lone workers etc.) who may be required to work remotely where GSM coverage is limited or non-existent. Small enough to be placed in the top of a rucksack or similar backpack, it can be deployed for up to 40 hours between charges with a 2.2Ah NiMH battery pack (see the accessories). Incorporation of a battery low warning LED allows the user to check this at any time. In addition to transmitting regular position reports, the Personnel Tracker also includes a Panic Button for use in emergencies and a POI button, which may be used for either sending your current location or if on a site survey, a point of interest. In addition to carrying the Personnel Tracker in a backpack, the incorporation of magnetic feet means that the unit can also be temporarily attached to a vehicle thus allowing flexibility in deployment of individuals. The TAM Tracking & Monitoring Series of products provide global tracking and sensor monitoring for fixed and mobile assets such as trailers, containers, tanks and railcars without the need for an external power source. The integral battery will provide up to 10 years maintenance free operation (depending upon battery size).

The TAM-120 is designed to operate with the Rosemount or similar low power transducers. It is ideal for tank monitoring applications and provides:

The GEM-100 expansion module is designed to interface to the SAT-201 satellite terminal to provide expanded interface capabilities and battery back-up. The GEM-100 and SAT-201 combination supersedes, and provides an alternative to, the SAT-101 terminal.

The GEM-100 offers like for like functionality and features that were so popular in the SAT-101, such as independent power management, which is a key feature for the security and oil and gas sectors. The GEM-100, when combined with the 1.7 Ah NiCaD battery pack, provides backup power to both the GEM and the SAT-201, and is automatically charged through the GEM-100 when connected to a 9.6 to 30 volt DC source. The GEM-100 can also be connected directly to a suitable solar panel to provide external power.

The GEM-100 has four additional input/outputs to complement the four input/outputs of the SAT-201, allowing for more complex solutions to be implemented. The additional input/outputs are digital or analogue (4-20 mA current loop).

The newly integrated GEM-100 allows customers to opt into the highly popular, additional features of the former SAT-101 product, which has ceased production.
